The information domain is a dynamic system. It is an additional layer to physical conditions and raw data.

It is having cognitive effects in higher organisms that frame its pure existence and giving it a “sense”. Sense positions the individual in relationship to an environment. Every new bit of information may be consistent to this sense, or contradicting. Communication is the non-violent action that delivers new information to the individual. It may support the given sense or distract. In every case it forms convictions and influences target persons’ will.

Narratives shape the context that is seen as the reality. Communication activity is in every case aimed to steer the supposed reality in a particular direction. Information Operations can transform adversaries to allies or vice versa. That means transforming the sense of an individual into a previously contradictious one.

Thus, it is key to win a war without firing a shot.
